Thirty Years With Men

The Rotary Club of Walcha has the exclusive right to publish and wholesale Harry Ding’s book ‘Thirty Years With Men’.  All proceeds from sales go towards assisting aged care.

First published in 1989, this book contains the memoirs of a man who pioneered a reliable outback transport service which came to include the Birdsville Track mail run. In the deserts of outback Australia, the pioneering transport business commenced in 1921 with a horse and dray and culminated with a fleet of twenty mail and general trucks. During this period he also pioneered a system of radio communication for his trucks which, together with the Australian Inland Mission Stations, made up the radio triangle for the interior.

In 1950, Harry moved to Walcha where he set up a garage business. Here, his outstanding contribution to Outback communities was recognised by the Walcha Rotary Club.
